Does any one know of, or have a preferred brand of not to expensive after market shifter knobs?
I’ve had good luck with Twistedshifterz(corny name I know). They have an ebay store. They make the knobs with metal inserts, thread to your application, and are pretty great quality. Prices ranging from 24-125 bucks, but mostly under 40.
But they don’t do any wooden knobs, and I think that’s what I’ll be going for in my next car.
So do you know of any good sources for budget shifter knobs... and I don’t mean autozone lol.

Are there any decent pen turners in your area? I bet if you can track one of those guys down at a craft show they’d be pretty willing to give it a shot with some nice hardwood.

I would never recommend a shifter that doesn't thread on directly... Anything else I see as a danger. Find what thread size your car is and then go from there. I have a voodoo knob on my car and I love it.

They don’t do wood but moddiction.com has very nice weighted aluminum options starting at $60.

I really enjoyed my Modiction I had on my Miata. I hear Lathe works/werks* makes a great product. flossy and TWM come highly recommended as well. There’s a guy on Etsy that will do a beautiful Carrera GT wooden knob for you for your price range too. I keep having to slap my hand away when I’m tempted by a black walnut one for my STi

Glad you agree... I wasnt sure from your post if you were using one of those universal knobs with the three prongs. Those are just awful!

Nope I bought one of those from Walmart one time. I had bought a Mazda MX6 and it had this horrible chrome skull shifter knob, probably from Autozone, It was so bad that there was places where the “chrome” was flaking off and would actually cut you if you weren’t careful. So I bought a cheapO at walmart that was just a plain black vinyl in a nice shape as a place holder. It moved around so much I actually ended up trowing it out the window in a blind rage.
Twistedshifterz uses a metal insert pressed into the knob that is threaded specific to your car. I made sure of that before i bought from them

good point. I did find a few Jaguar knobs that are the same thread pitch as what might be my next car. for less than 25 bucks
